AGS Grading Service

AGS (Automated Grading Systems) card grading is a fully automated service that uses artificial intelligence, machine learning, and 3D laser scanning to evaluate trading cards.

How Does AGS Grading Work?

AGS uses an automated multi-stage process to analyse your card:

1. Advanced Scanning

Once your card enters the AGS grading process, it undergoes high-resolution imaging and scanning under controlled conditions.

The technology examines the card from multiple angles and analyses its physical characteristics, including the front and back of the card.

2. AI-Powered Analysis

AGS's proprietary RoboGrading AI analyses the card using computer vision and machine-learning technology.

Rather than relying on a grader's personal interpretation, the system measures the card's characteristics using data and predetermined grading criteria.

3. Four Key Grading Areas

Every card is evaluated across four fundamental categories:

CENTERING
The AI measures the exact positioning and symmetry of the card's borders.

SURFACE
The system analyses the surface for scratches, print lines, dents, imperfections and other defects.

EDGES
The edges are examined for whitening, chipping, cutting irregularities and other signs of wear.

CORNERS
Each corner is analysed for sharpness, wear and shape irregularities.

AGS generates subgrades for these areas on both the front and back of the card before calculating the final grade.

4. Laser Surface Mapping

One of AGS's standout technologies is its laser scanning and Heightmap system.

The technology maps the physical surface of the card and can identify variations in depth, dents and other imperfections that may be difficult to detect with the naked eye.

5. Final Grade Calculation

The data collected from the scans and AI analysis is processed through AGS's grading algorithm to produce the final grade.

The system also provides a detailed breakdown of the card's individual grading characteristics, allowing collectors to understand why a card received its particular grade.

Current turn around times are 5 business days from when AGS have received and processed the submission. (subject to change). AGS is shipped on a monthly basis.
